Every year, Bristol is pretty much a ghost town during Glastonbury weekend. If you’re one of the few in Bristol who missed out on tickets for this weekend’s festivities, you may be tempted to stay on your sofa and watch repeats of Adele singing ‘Hello’ to a crowd full of flags but fear not! There’s plenty going on to make you rejoice in the fact that you can have fun and not sleep in a swampy mud pit.

01. Braids at Start the Bus

Our cover stars Braids will be gracing the Start the Bus stage tonight for a bargain price of £7. Their recent EP proves they’re producing some of the most beautiful tracks around, with Christian’s interview providing some insight into their process. Don’t miss one of Canada’s best exports. Tickets here.

02. Vote!

We know, we know – you’ve had this jammed down your throat for a good few weeks now but seriously, this is pretty important. Take a pal! Take your dog! Buy a coffee on the way! Bring a nice sparkly pen to make things exciting. Just do it.

03. Bristol Summer Series

Still wanting to catch a bit of that festival spirit but not quite up for the mud? The Bristol Summer Series is the perfect choice. Catch Sigur Ros, James Bay, The Last Shadow Puppets or Catfish and the Bottlemen and be safe in the knowledge you can head straight home afterwards. Details here.

04. Eartheater / Memotone / Klein at The Cube

Howling Owl always know how to put on a good show, providing a platform for some of the best new and established acts around. This time, they’re welcoming the brilliant Eartheater to The Cube, with recent Bristol Live Magazine interviewee Klein supporting. Tickets here.

05. Garden Centre / Wenonah at Roll for the Soul

Members of King of Cats, Joanna Gruesome and Towel have come together to form Garden Centre, with performance on Saturday. BLM cover star Wenonah is providing support, with Bellies! also performing. All ages and donation entry.

06. Klein instore at Rise

If you can’t make it to The Cube on Friday night, why not pop to Rise on Saturday to browse some records and watch a special instore performance from Klein? Luckily, the shop also stocks her brillaint love-heart USB stick release, so you can pick one up after you’re blown away. More details here.

07. She Makes War on 6 Music

BLM cover star She Makes War has recently broken her foot after falling off stage (get well soon Laura!) but that won’t stop her taking over the music world. She’ll be performing a live set on 6 Music on Monday evening. Tune in from 7pm to hear tracks from latest album ‘Direction of Travel’. More details here.
