A Year Today ‘We Are The Young’ | EP Review
A Year Today 'We Are The Young' | Self-release | 21.03.15.
This four track EP is an impressive example of thick, greasy, rock and effing roll. It doesn’t pretend to be clever, but it’s effortlessly big. From the belting opener, it combines energetic rhythm guitar work with subtle lead melodies, which drive the songs further along without overwhelming or overshadowing the generally ballsy sound. For good measure, it throws in driving kick drum patterns — and a liberal sprinkling of gang vocals.
Listening to ‘We Are The Young’ feels like a sweaty, booze-fuelled Friday night in the ‘Keller. It’s well produced, it’s unpretentious, and it’s fun. Can’t ask for more than that.
