Gracing the Exchange with their raucous scuzzy rock presence, Birdskulls make a welcome return to Bristol as part of their joint headline tour with fellow DIY punks The New Tusk. Birdskulls’ debut album Trickle, released in 2015, saw the band hone their sound and firmly established their reputation for expertly crafting an infectious clattering of grungy guitar riffs and abrasive vocals as they hurtle through songs delivering a fair share of angst in the mix. Unsurprisingly this raw energy and attitude that Birdskulls channel translates to fittingly heightened levels of exuberant chaos in a live setting.
With The New Tusk describing their own sound as “lo fidelity short attention span punk” and their most recent EP Sloom serving up a heady helping of fast-paced, emo-tinged indie punk, the trio couldn’t be better tour partners in crime to undoubtedly provide more noisy dynamism to the show. And as if the pairing of Birdskulls and The New Tusk wasn’t enough, they’ll also be joined by ever excellent Bristol bands Springbreak and Modern Rituals; with that line-up it’s sure to be a tasty slice of lively sonic revelry for your Sunday evening.
