Earlier this year saw the debut of COIL – “a new night of necessary release” – from the minds behind the exceptional artist collective THORNY and local label Howling Owl Records. After a selling out the repurposed working men’s club – Brunswick Club in the heart of St Paul’s – the team are back to bring some of the best artists, performers and experimental creators to the forefront.

Returning on 28th October, the second installment of COIL will see a programme of experimental noise and live art with NYC-based performance artist/dancer Imma Asher and experimental soundmaker/performer Colin Self headlining.

Previously performing as a drag artist under the moniker IMMA/MESS, Imma Asher soon realised that the character was another aspect in hiding her true self. Now out as a trans woman, Imma Asher continues to make significant art, aiming to share it with like-minded people and communicate with the world around her in a way only she can.

Colin Self is a non-binary artist who could be described as everything from a musician, a DJ, video artist, community organizer, and social activist. Looking at the world in a way that is significant and unique, their art allows us to explore aspects of ourselves and our surroundings in new and extraordinary ways.

After the praise that surrounded the debut of COIL in March, you’d be silly not to snap up a ticket for what’s set to be a night of exploration, insight and wonder.
