Drenge – ‘Fuckabout’ | Single Review

Drenge: Eoin, left, and Rory Loveless pictured under a canal bridge

Drenge have always done their own thing, from low profile early demos to an award winning debut album, the pair still maintain a curious disregard for the world of hype that tails them.

That’s not to say their humble nature works it’s way onto 2013’s self-titled debut, instead it’s pissed off sounds born out of small town isolation. This is most evident on latest single ‘Fuckabout’, a true example of the jokey attitude that governs the brilliantly bitter record. Although as Eoin Loveless tells us “this song is a fuckabout, not one to write home about”, they’d probably prefer we stop keyboard bashing. Though if one thing is clear, this song is anything but a fuckabout – it’s more in the field of unbeknown genius.
