Young Bristolian band The Malarkey have blessed us with a real treat this Friday.
The band have only released a handful of songs so far, but ‘Something to Die For’ raises the bar on their slowly growing back-catalogue.
Over gritty, melancholic guitars, the band dream of getting away from the drudgery of sitting around unemployed. It’s a depressing yet dreamy indie-sleeper, recalling the sharp insight of early Arctic Monkeys, but with an early 00’s jangle. The result is hypnotic, with the nostalgic instrumentation clashing with the deeply modern lyrical outlook.
The beautifully filmed video is the perfect accompaniment, filmed around Bristol, capturing the boredom and dreariness of England at its most grey.
