Glass Animals @ Thekla, Bristol. 15.10.14.

The term ‘Blown up’ is a bit cliché when mentioning about something that’s taken the scene by storm - but when you’ve been submerging yourself in one of the most unique and unpredictable music genres of all time then it seems only right to use it. Trip Hop has been my genre of 2014 and one that’s thrived with bands like Elder Island and Colour The Atlas bringing out some extremely exciting new music. However the crown of Trip Hop simply goes to Glass Animals, one of 2014’s most unstoppable bands at the moment.

Their debut LP ‘ZABA’ that came out this summer was indeed special, the London based group conjuring up their ambient electronica fused with tropical jungle soundscapes that has totally gripped my eardrums. From the silky smooth ‘Gooey’ to the upbeat harmonies of ‘Pools’, ‘ZABA’ just oozes out excitement and uniqueness.

Receiving praise from critics alike, sold out shows and conquering festival season, Glass Animals are certainly up there with my favourites. That’s not all, currently on their US tour with sold out shows in LA and New York on the horizon followed up by another UK tour, Glass Animals are ready to wrap up the year with a bang. Catch them next month in Bristol at the newly revamped Thekla.
