Kayla Painter has always done things on her own terms. A prolific and inspiring Bristol-based artist, she creates a world that wanders through a poignant reflection, urging you to look beyond what you previously knew.
An instrumentalist and producer, her ambient output is inescapably infectious, ricocheting through your tired body and ultimately giving rise to a hopeful future. Painter is a master at finding a source of light through the darkness. Her video for 2015 single ‘Revert’ – directed by Bristol’s own James Hankins – particularly captured the beauty in Painter’s execution.
Releasing a handful of EP’s and performing as a visual artist with her AV shows, it’s no surprise that Painter was picked as one of the artists to perform during Bristol’s Independent Venue Week. To celebrate the feat, Painter has written and produced a track that samples all three artists playing that show with her – Yama Warashi and YO NO SE. Lucky for you, Bristol Live Magazine reader, we’ve got an exclusive free download of the track that you can grab here.
We’re also super excited to be able to offer one reader a pair of tickets for the show itself, taking place at The Exchange on 26th January. Head here for details.
