18th October | Thekla

Minneapolis natives POLIÇA have three excellent albums under their belts, yet for some POLIÇA will still be something of an unknown quantity. If this refers to you then now is a good time to remedy that by getting yourself down to Thekla for the Bristol leg of POLIÇA’s current European tour.

The four piece will be pushing this years fantastically monikered United Crushers LP. That album built on POLIÇA’s already established signature sound, a strange brew of electronic processed sounds harking from worlds of synth-pop and modern r’n’b, melded with indie friendly guitars and song structures.

On record, POLIÇA are also particularly notable for their generous use of effects, specifically those used on the vocals of singer Channy Leaneagh. Although Leaneagh is clearly a gifted singer with an elastic range and pure tone, the brave decision to augment her voice with all manner of vocal effects and production techniques is one that has paid off. It should be most intriguing to find out how the meticulous, studio-centric sound POLIÇA have crafted on record, translates into the live arena.

POLIÇA play Thekla on Tuesday 18th October; check out ‘Lime Habits’ below.
