Wavves ‘V’ | Album Review

Wavves 'V' | Warner Bros | 02.10.15.

It’s a hard climate out there for bands pushing punk music with pop sensibilities, but Wavves’ fifth album does manage to provide something worthwhile. Despite slightly dull opener ‘Heavy Metal Detox’, the record really comes into its own as more real lyrics jut out of numbers like ‘Way Too Much’ and ‘My Head Hurts’ .

They’ve definitely kept an audience in mind here, selling themselves on a spirit of youth, but, if you’ve read the interviews, you’ll know there’s a relentless sense of party in these guys. So much so in fact, that you wouldn’t be afraid to spin this one before a night out. Not bad for a band rooted in punk.
