Farmfest 2014 @ Gilcombe Farm, Bruton. 01.08.14.

Farmfest

So we’ve been doused in some sun, alright it’s only been a few days - but it’s enough to throw our minds forth into festival season. It’s no secret that one of our favourites is always Farmfest and judging from the lineup it looks to be the finest yet.

There are a few Bristol favourites that we need to namecheck right away, Towns who will be releasing their debut album on the cusp of summer, make for a theatrical live show bringing the colourful sounds of psychedelia straight into the modern world. Our recent cover act Goan Dogs are also a band you should be sure to pen into your planner, as they’ll also come packing new material into a striking set.

Public Service Broadcasting and Melt Yourself Down are two of the big guns this year, each fast becoming notorious for live shows that will fill the mainstage with ruthless levels of fun. ‘Spitfire’ is usually played in front of projections and static TV sets, so it will be exciting to see how this is adapted for a festival stage.

Unsigned acts from Somerset will as ever feature on the bill, sticking to the local values of the event. Favourites from recent years Awaken The Silence will be making a return to play the ‘Somerset Stage’ as well as a host more.

Above all, Farmfest is still about having a good time with friends and unearthing the next Submotion Orchestra or Egyptian Hip Hop. It remains as a fun-loving, wonderfully branded weekend simply about eating and drinking as much as you like, and discovering great live music. Buy a ticket here and let’s make it another true spectacle.
