Last week, we were treated to the longlist for the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition. The announcement showcased 120 acts, whittled down from thousands of entrants. The lucky winner will get the chance to play a slot on one of the festival’s main stages and will also be given £5000 by PRS for Music Foundation Talent Development, while two runners up will be awarded £2500.

Today, the festival have picked their 8 front-runners. Whilst we were sad to see that our picks of GLASS, MKAI and Mellor didn’t make it, we’re chuffed that Early Ghost – an artist on Bristol label Art is Hard – made the cut as well as local artist Henry Green. The rest of the acts are Bossy Love, Gillbanks, Hattie Whitehead, Lady Sanity, Marcus McCoan and She Drew The Gun.

Organiser Emily Eavis said, “Once again, we’ve been impressed by both the quality and quantity of new music out there in the UK and Ireland, with thousands of talented acts entering this year’s competition. It was extremely tough to narrow the 120 acts on the longlist down to 8 finalists, but we’re really pleased with the group of acts we’ve ended up with. I can’t wait to see them play at the live finals.”
