ROAR, formally known as Finding the Female Headliner, have announced a bunch of new shows for 2016, most notably Bristol’s very own Rozelle at the Exchange in September 19th.

Started by promoters Robomagic Live, ROAR’s goal is to address the huge disparity between male and female acts at festivals. We all know that most line-ups resemble blank paper when the male acts or all-male bands are removed, and ROAR look to directly address that by giving a platform to female artists.

But the name change to ROAR is more about just a simple re-brand, as promoter Kath Butler explains: “The rebrand stemmed from a desire to change the name. We decided on ROAR as it denotes a fierce and powerful voice whilst not speaking to a prescribed gender orientation. This made us review the core values of the night and instead of simply addressing the lack of female headliners on festival line ups, we’d rather the night address the inequality at the core of the music industry by giving a platform to all its marginalised yet talented voices.”

As well as Rozelle, the tour will see Nova Twins and Lovestarrs play dates in Manchester, Brighton and London throughout September. All ticket proceeds will go to The Eve Appeal.
