21st June | Bristol Amphitheatre

Kicking off this year’s Bristol Sounds Series is the king of post party chillout, the all encompassing, electrifying composer/producer/DJ Simon Green aka Bonobo.

Having recently released his sixth studio album, Migration, Bonobo yet again continues to surprise and impress with his diverse take on electronic music. Combining programmed beats with live instrumentation, Bonobo’s fluid amalgamation of house, funk, soul and jazz (infused with snippets of world music) makes this album one of his most eclectic yet.

Tracks such as ‘Bambro Koyo Grande’ featuring New York-based Moroccan music collective Innova Gnawa, Cirrus (North Borders) and Kong (Black Sands) are enough to get anyone dancing with their ever-present uplifting optimism, whilst ‘Break Apart’ featuring LA-based R’n’B duo Rhye and ‘First Fires’ with Grey Reverend reveal a much more emotionally-driven depth to his music.

Having just completed a European and North American Tour, Bonobo is back in the UK for festival season with dates at Glastonbury, Citadel and more. His live shows are not to be missed, famously packed with energy and colour and an all-round immersive experience.

Joining Bonobo on Wednesday 21st at Canons Marsh Amphitheatre is Jens Kuross, a jazz-trained singer-songwriter who effortlessly makes listeners fall in love with his music every time.

With sunny skies forecast, it’s bound to be an electrifying start to four days of great music.
