One of Bristol’s biggest musical exports Massive Attack are set to play a huge homecoming gig on the Downs this summer. The legendary band haven’t played in their home city since 2003, and there hasn’t been an event of this scale held on the Downs since 2001, so the event will definitely be a special one.

It’s the first of what the band hope will be a yearly event with “an international reach” and also aims to “engage with the important social and political issues of the day.”

The event is taking place on September 3rd and has been organised by Team Love, the same group of guys and gals behind Love Saves The Day. As well as the seminal trip-hop band, support acts Primal Scream and Skepta will be joining with more acts expected to be announced soon. Hopefully, some current local bands will be announced on the line up as well.

It has been announced that tickets have now sold out for the event, with queues forming from as early as 3:30am this morning.
